Balrog Boogie – Diablo Swing Orchestra

Do you want to dance? I got the perfect song for you. Why, The Balrog Boogie of course. This song is the first track of Diablo Swing Orchestra‘s first album, The Butcher’s Ballroom. The whole album has goth, metal, rock, and operatic tones with lots of different influences, including latin, jazz, swing. The vocalist, Annlouice Loegdlund, sings in Latin and English. It’s eclectic, heavy, gothic. It rocks. Check it out on Jamendo. They also have another album out, called Sing Along Songs for the Damned and Delirious, see their Official Site for more details.

Anyways, the song itself, Balrog Boogie is tough to describe. Obvious swing, with spalshy drums, walking bass, horns, and even violins. But it combines operatic singing, heavy guitar vamping, an some “demonic” sounding voices. This first track is experimental and, at times, funny. It reminds me of Nightwish combined with Voltaire. It’s a unique jam. As I always say, check ’em out on Jamendo. And throw ’em some money.
